Over 175 years of maritime history is evident when you stand in Riverfront Park in downtown Apalachicola. These commercial seafood docks sit on the edge of the largest National Estuary in the lower 48 states. Look for signs on Water Street to locate guest artist Donald Demers and featured artists Gene Costanza and Mitch Kolbe from 9-11 am EST.
2-4 PM EST REID AVENUE STREETSCAPES
Port St. Joe’s Reid Avenue provides artists Richard Gallego and Lori Putnam the opportunity to paint downtown activity in a quaint, picturesque setting. Stop by Palm Tree Books to locate artists and pick up event information; artists will demonstrate from 2-4 pm EST.

Always a favorite with visiting artists, the fishing vessels, scarred with years of patina from everyday use, attract all ages to the river. Look for signs on Water Street to locate guest artist Donald Demers and featured artists Sally Evans and Tom Sadler.
Kick off the event from 6-8 pm EST at either the WindMark Village Center on 98 to the west or at SummerCamp on 98 to the east with plein air artists, patrons and event organizers. The WindMark reception will provide a preview of works from previous paint-outs and the SummerCamp affair will present the St. Joe Collection. Free and open to the public.

10 AM-4 PM EST REID AVENUE QUICKDRAW
Artists are invited to celebrate the Plein Air tradition by taking 2 hours, beginning at 10 am EST, to paint the area around Reid Avenue in downtown Port St. Joe. At noon the morning's work will line the sidewalks, awards will be presented, and the art sold. There will also be music, shopping, and an art project for kids. The Quickdraw is hosted by the Port St. Joe Redevelopment Agency and the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce.

See the Wetroom as the 2009 featured artists present their initial impressions of the Forgotten Coast. Attendees will get the first chance to purchase these paintings that capture and preserve what is so loved about the area. The opening will be held from 6-8 pm EST in the Historic Cotton Warehouse. ALL DAY WORKSHOP WITH DONALD DEMERS
Noted maritime artist Donald Demers will teach 2 one-day field workshops as part of the plein air experience. These back to back programs are designed to share and explore the experience of plein air painting. They will consist of demonstrations by the instructor followed by one-on-one attention with each participant as they work on their own paintings throughout the balance of the day. The day will conclude with a brief follow up demo by the instructor and discussion of the various aspects of painting outdoors. Class size is limited, so register early (800-378-8419 or online). Participants must provide all supplies and pay the $75 instruction fee in advance to reserve a space.

Watch artists Sally Evans, Mitch Kolbe, and Tom Sadler paint the last of five lighthouses built on Cape San Blas. The present 90 foot, pyramidal skeleton tower was completed in 1885, fitted with a third-order lens, and in 1919 moved to its present location. 850-229-1151.

For just shy of 100 years the Crooked River Lighthouse stood as a beacon, guiding timber ships and local fishermen through the treacherous pass between Dog and St. George Islands. Visit the recently completed Lighthouse Keeper's Museum and meet artists Frank Bruckmann, Gene Costanza and Robert Simone, Carrabelle, 2-4 pm.

From 5-7 pm, the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association and the Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce will host a reception for
artists Gene Costanza, Robert Simone and Frank Bruckmann and view works by the Boys and Girls Club in the recently completed Lighthouse Keeper's Museum in Carrabelle.

Plein air artists gather at 10 am in Maddox Park in Port St. Joe to devote a morning of one-on-one instruction to budding artists from local high schools. Thanks to area sponsors, students are provided with complete materials and their finished plein air paintings
will be displayed in the wetroom throughout the event. At noon, the Junior Service League will prepare a community luncheon, hosted by the Port St. Joe Lions’ Club, to honor the students and artists on the deck of the Gulf County Welcome Center.
