Cynthia Edmonds has been painting all her life. Oil painting became her avocation while living and working in Seattle. Since returning to Florida, she has devoted her time to painting the landscapes she remembers from her youth. In her words, “Working on location inspires me in a profound way; observing nature firsthand helps me to understand the shape, form, and infinite colors of my subject. Using nature as inspiration, my goal is not to duplicate the scene, but to give the viewer the sense of being in the landscape.” Edmonds’ pieces can be viewed at Shands Arts in Medicine Collection at the University of Florida, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, Maitland Art Center and Venice Regional Medical Center.
